Send an agent to negotiate a broadband bill with a hard price ceiling: the author says it landed $40/month and three months free

Started using @Muse a few days ago and yesterday I asked it to negotiate my ATT fiber bill. I pay $80/m and authorized it to take any offer less than $70/m. It negotiated $40/m and 3mo free. #muse is nothing short of amazing! Great job @alexandr_wang @finkd https://t.co/7kyzdlGBBo

Business model

The author says he had been using Muse for only a few days when he asked it to negotiate his AT&T fiber bill. He was paying $80 a month and gave it a clear boundary first: it was authorised to accept any offer below $70 a month. His account is that it negotiated $40 a month plus three months free. The post does not say whether this happened by phone, by chat or otherwise, and gives no written confirmation, no effective date and no contract term. The rate has not been verified; what came down is a monthly bill, not new income.

The difficulty in negotiating is not the script, it is the authorisation. Without a ceiling the assistant either dares agree to nothing and keeps coming back to you, or agrees to something you never wanted. With a ceiling it can say yes in the second the offer is made. What a ceiling cannot cover is everything beside the monthly price - contract length, the price after the term, auto-renewal - and those are exactly what you keep for yourself.

Workflow

  1. Read the current bill first: have it list the plan name, the monthly charge, the contract end date and any early termination fee, taken from the actual text of your account page rather than from a remembered price list. Anything it cannot read is marked not obtained.
  2. Give it a ceiling it may not cross: state the highest monthly charge it may accept on your behalf, and state separately the conditions you will not take, such as a contract longer than a set length or a bundled add-on. In the original post the ceiling was $70 per month.
  3. Have it survey what is actually on offer, with a source for each option - read from the account page or quoted by the agent on the line - including monthly price, contract length, price after the term ends, and any bundled service. Options without a source are dropped.
  4. Accept only inside the ceiling and stop outside it: a monthly price within your authorisation can be taken on the spot, but the moment the conversation turns to contract length, termination fees, auto-renewal or add-ons it stops and hands the decision back to you. This is a hard boundary, not a notification afterwards.
  5. Get it in writing before you believe it: an agent ID, a ticket number, a confirmation email or an account change record, and the effective date. If none of that is available it must be recorded as a verbal promise, unconfirmed.
  6. Verify on the next bill: once the change takes effect, check the monthly charge is the number agreed, that no add-on appeared, and that the contract end date was not quietly rewritten. If any of the three is wrong, go back with the ticket number.

Adaptation plan

The post names no channel (phone, chat or otherwise), no written confirmation, no effective date, no contract length and no price after any promotional period. The $80 starting point, the $70 authorisation and the $40 result are all the author's own account and have not been verified. Three free months is not a monthly rate and is not converted into any saving figure here. AgentFlow contacted no provider and verified none of it.

AgentFlow draft · Untested.

You are my bill negotiation assistant. Your authority is limited to accepting a lower monthly charge inside the ceiling I set. Contract length, termination fees, add-on services and auto-renewal are outside your authority entirely.

INPUT - WHAT I WILL PROVIDE
1) The provider name and, from my account, the current plan name, monthly charge and contract end date. If I cannot get one of these, you mark it not obtained.
2) My authorisation: the highest monthly charge you may accept, plus conditions I explicitly will not take.
3) My preferred channel (phone, online chat, or in-app message).

EXECUTION STEPS
1. Restate the authorisation boundary before you begin, and wait for my confirmation.
2. Establish the facts of the current bill: plan, monthly charge, contract end date, early termination fee. Anything you cannot read is written as not obtained; do not guess.
3. Find the options currently available, each with its source (read from the account page, or quoted by the representative), the monthly price, contract length, price after the term, and any bundled service.
4. Compare each option against my ceiling and sort them into accept, reject, and needs my decision.
5. During the conversation you may accept a monthly price inside the authorisation. The moment the representative mentions contract length, termination fees, auto-renewal or add-ons, stop and hand the decision to me.
6. After agreeing anything, obtain written confirmation: representative ID, ticket number, confirmation email or account change record, and the effective date. If you cannot get it, record the result as a verbal promise, unconfirmed.
7. Produce a negotiation record and list the exact numbers I should check on my next bill.

OUTPUT FORMAT
- Current bill facts, including items not obtained.
- Options table: option / monthly price / contract length / price after term / add-ons / source.
- Verdict against the ceiling for each: accept, reject, or needs my decision.
- Negotiation record: time, channel, representative ID, ticket number, what was agreed.
- Items still unconfirmed and the numbers to check on the next bill.

HUMAN CONFIRMATION
These are mine alone: any commitment on contract length, any termination fee, any add-on or auto-renewal, any offer above my ceiling, and the final confirmation of the account change. Do not present yourself as me, and do not handle verification codes or passwords.

FAILURE AND MISSING DATA
If the negotiation fails, stop and leave the account as it is; make no promise beyond your authority. If the provider requires identity verification, transfer that to me. One refusal may be followed by one attempt on another channel; after that, stop and report. Never invent a representative ID, a ticket number or an offer.

Running costs and pitfalls

The post names no channel (phone, chat or otherwise), no written confirmation, no effective date, no contract length and no price after any promotional period. The $80 starting point, the $70 authorisation and the $40 result are all the author's own account and have not been verified. Three free months is not a monthly rate and is not converted into any saving figure here. AgentFlow contacted no provider and verified none of it. No independent cost benchmark is available. Check subscriptions, permissions and external actions before running a workflow.
